Since the National Treasury announced that Proof of Address (POA) is a mandatory requirement for your preferred address on the Central Supplier Database (CSD), many SMMEs have faced compliance hurdles. A “Non-Compliant” CSD status can delay your government purchase order funding and stop payments in their tracks.
If you’ve already updated your CSD and are ready to fulfill a contract, you can [apply for purchase order funding] here or [learn more about tender funding] at The Ant Capital.
What Documents Can You Use as POA on CSD?
To ensure a successful upload, your document must be clear, legible, and not older than 3 months (unless it is a lease agreement or motor vehicle license).
Eligible POA Documents Include:
- Municipal rates and taxes invoice or utility bill (Water/Electricity).
- Recent Bank Statement.
- Lease or Rental Agreement.
- A letter from a local Ward Councilor or Traditional Chief.
- Retail store accounts (Clothing/Furniture).
- Recent long-term or short-term insurance policy.
- Official SARS tax return confirmation letter.
- Valid Television License or Motor Vehicle License documentation.
Step-by-Step: Updating Your CSD Address

1. Log in to the CSD Portal
Visit the official CSD website and log in to your profile. Navigate through the security prompts until you reach the main dashboard. Click on “Supplier Details.“
2. Enter Edit Mode
Locate the specific supplier profile you wish to update. Click the “Edit” icon (the small blue pen icon on the far right of the screen).

3. Navigate to the Address Tab
Click on the “Address” tab in the top navigation menu. Here, you will see your current physical and postal addresses. Identify the address marked as “Preferred” and click the edit icon for that specific entry.

4. Upload the Proof of Address
Scroll down to the bottom of the address details. You will see an option to select your “Address Documentation Type.” Choose the document type you have (e.g., Bank Statement), then click “Upload” to attach the file from your computer.

5. Finalize and Submit
Once uploaded, click “Save.” You must then navigate to the “Submit” tab at the end of the menu to finalise the changes. Your CSD status will update once the system verifies the attachment.
